A MOTHER killed in her home by two banned dogs was pregnant, it emerged yesterday.
Emma Bennett, 27, was expecting her fifth child when she was savaged by the animals, believed to be American pitbulls, after suffering an epileptic fit.
Boyfriend Lee Horner, 33, was arrested yesterday under the Dangerous Dogs Act. Earlier he posted on Facebook: “RIP Emma and our bump.”
Neighbours said the dogs had started reacting badly to her fits in the last few weeks.
Her brother David Garside said Emma “should not have been left in the house alone” because of how the dogs behaved when she had a fit.
Mr Garside, a former soldier, 23, said he was at her bedside with her four children when her life-support machine was switched off. “They kept her alive long enough for us to say goodbye. She managed to bring the whole family together which was her big wish,” he said.
Emma suffered massive head injuries and died from brain damage. None of her children live at the house in Leeds where she was found on Monday.
Her family said: “We are deeply upset, not just because she’s been taken from us so suddenly but because of the horrific circumstances.”
